Expect the unexpected
A Tradition of Style & Discovery
In 1985, Mary Ellen opened Peppergrass & Tulip in Mystic, CT, with a simple belief: shopping should be an experience of discovery.
With an instinctive eye for style and a passion for finding the unexpected, she created a store filled with clothing, jewelry, gifts, and treasures chosen because they were beautiful, distinctive, and a little different. Over the years, that distinctive point of view became the heart of Peppergrass & Tulip.
For more than four decades, Mary Ellen has continued to curate the store with the same curiosity and discerning eye that inspired it from the beginning. She has created a place where customers return season after season—not simply to shop, but to discover something they didn't know they were looking for.
The story of Peppergrass & Tulip has always been about more than what is on the shelves. It is about personal style, unexpected discoveries, and the relationships built with generations of customers.
What Mary Ellen created in 1985 remains at the heart of Peppergrass & Tulip. We look forward to continuing that tradition with the customers who have made the store part of their own stories—and welcoming those who will discover it for the first time.
